Protests on social inequities have built pressure not only within communities, but also in workplaces to get serious about diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI). The need to address such pressure would require a company to hire a Chief Diversity Officer (CDO).
The role of the Chief Diversity Officer and its team would ensure carrying out its mission, which is to build a more diverse and inclusive workforce in its hiring process and training its employees for diversity-related issues, such as unconscious or implicit bias.
Aside from HR concerns, it is also the key focus of the CDO to authentically serve a diverse customer base in an inclusive and equitable manner through innovation, operations, and marketing.
